Have you been diagnosed with Breast Cancer?
We are here for you!
The Peer Support Program can help you by:
– Matching you one-on-one with a survivor who had a similar diagnosis and personal history
– Providing emotional support and guidance
– Answering questions from the perspective of someone who’s been there
About this program:
Breast Cancer Action is pleased to offer a one-on-one peer support experience to all those diagnosed with breast cancer, free of charge.
A representative of Breast Cancer Action, who is also a breast cancer survivor, is available to speak (either in person or via telephone) with anyone who expresses an interest in communicating with a woman who is willing to openly discuss her own experiences as a patient. This person is called a Peer Support Volunteer.
A match between a Peer Support Volunteer and a newly diagnosed individual is based on not only age, but also on similiar diagnosis and language. A Peer Support Volunteer provides emotional and moral support in a confidential, understanding manner designed to provide positive interaction. Newly diagnosed breast cancer patients will also learn of the various programs, services and resources available at Breast Cancer Action – many of which provide another level of moral support through informal support structures.
Anyone interested in establishing a match through the Peer Support Program is encouraged to contact Breast Cancer Action direct at email@example.com or 613-736-5921 . (Please note, all calls are confidential.)
