Mayor Jim Watson Proclaims November 15th to be “Pink the Rink” Day in Ottawa!
The Pink the Rink fundraiser, hosted by the University of Ottawa women’s hockey team, is an annual fundraising hockey game, with proceeds benefiting Breast Cancer Action Ottawa.
This year, the event will be honoured by Mayor Jim Watson, who is once again voicing his support for our organization by declaring November 15th to be “Pink the Rink Day” in Ottawa…thank you to Mayor Watson! For the full text of the Mayor’s statement, see below.
Pink the Rink will take place at 2pm on November 15th, 2015 at the Minto Sportsplex at the University of Ottawa. For more information on the event, or to purchase tickets, please click here!
Pink the Rink Day:
WHEREAS, breast cancer is the most common cancer amongst Canadian women and the second leading cause of death from cancer in Canadian women; and
WHEREAS, Breast Cancer Action Ottawa is a local, community-based charitable organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for breast cancer patients and survivors through practical help, emotional support, and education; and
WHEREAS, Pink the Rink is an established process for raising awareness of breast cancer locally and nationally; and
WHEREAS, the University of Ottawa’s Gee-Gees Pink the Rink women’s hockey event strives to raise both community awareness of the impact of breast cancer and support for the work of Breast Cancer Action Ottawa;
THEREFORE, I, Jim Watson, Mayor of the City of Ottawa, do hereby proclaim November 15th, 2015 Pink the Rink Day in Ottawa.
